ACP Presents 'The Mystery of Edwin Drood'

  • Event Description: This wildly warm-hearted interactive theatrical experience kicks off when the Music Hall Royale (a hilariously loony Victorian musical troupe) “puts on” its flamboyant rendition of an unfinished Dickens mystery in The Mystery of Edwin Drood. The story itself deals with John Jasper, a Jekyll-and-Hyde choirmaster who is quite madly in love with his music student, the fair Miss Rosa Bud. Now, Miss Bud is, in turn, engaged to Jasper’s nephew, young Edwin Drood. Our title character disappears mysteriously one stormy Christmas Eve-but has Edwin Drood been murdered? And if so, then whodunnit?

Run for the Hills, 5k Trail Run and Walk

  • Event Description: Conquer the hills on this private 262 acre nature preserve packed with beautiful scenery, mature oak-hickory forests, tranquil creeks with granite outcroppings, and endangered wildflowers. Hike with a Ranger

  • Event Description: Come join us at Rivers Bridge State Historic Site for an unforgettable trip through time. Experience the natural beauty of our hiking trails and learn about the trials of a Civil War soldier and how the landscape impacted the defense of the Salkehatchie River during February of 1865. Historic Stable & Barn Tour

Hopelands Summer Concert Series

  • Event Description: The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department is pleased to announce the 2017 Hopelands Summer Concert Series. This year marks the 43rd season for the program. The concert series is intended to bring a variety of performances to Aiken and the surrounding area, admission is free. Savannah River Site Public Tour (SRS)

  • Event Description: Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC will once again offer a limited number of Savannah River Site (SRS) tours for the general public. Twenty-two general site driving tours of SRS are being offered to the public in 2016, providing openings for approximately 1,100 people to visit the site. Guests will be given an overview presentation safety briefing and general driving tour of the site. The tour includes a visit to the University of Georgia’s Savannah River Ecology Laboratory. Visitors will get an overview of the ecology lab’s history and mission, and get an up close view of animals that are native to the Savannah River Site. Site tours provide an opportunity for those interested in SRS to better understand the Department of Energy’s facilities and workers that changed the face of Aiken, Barnwell and Allendale Counties, nearby cities and helped win the Cold War.
